A 7-year-old patient presented with a developing anterior crossbite that threatened healthy jaw development and tooth wear. To intervene early, we utilised Invisalign FIRST, a clear aligner system specifically designed for growing smiles. Using advanced AI-assisted planning and digital scans, our specialist team custom-designed a treatment path that successfully corrected the crossbite and optimised arch development, creating the necessary space for permanent teeth to erupt naturally.
The choice of clear aligners provided a more comfortable, convenient experience than traditional braces. Because the aligners are removable and custom-fit via digital scans, the patient enjoyed a normal diet and maintained excellent oral hygiene without the need for messy impressions or frequent clinic visits. This streamlined approach ensured a positive, stress-free outcome for both the child and their parents.
As accredited specialists, we have the advanced training and licensing required to deliver Invisalign FIRST safely. This specialised early intervention allows us to manage complex growth patterns with precision, ensuring long-term dental stability and healthy facial development.

Private treatment often provides greater flexibility with appointments, helping you fit your child’s orthodontic care into your family’s busy routine. We can also offer a wider variety of braces, with discreet tooth-coloured options available. Our team is friendly and welcoming, helping your child feel at ease during their treatment. Book an appointmentThe British Orthodontic Society recommends that children have a first assessment from the age of seven. While treatment may not begin immediately, this age allows the orthodontist to spot any developing bite or jaw growth problems early, which are sometimes easier to correct while the child is still growing.
Traditional fixed metal braces are a highly effective and standard choice for addressing most orthodontic concerns in children. For a less visible result, popular private alternatives include ceramic (tooth-coloured) braces and clear aligner systems, such as Invisalign First, often recommended for older children or milder cases.
The duration of children’s orthodontic treatment can vary depending on the complexity of the case. Fixed brace treatment can take around 1-2.5 years, but other appliances could see faster results. Booking a paediatric orthodontics appointment at our practices removes the lengthy wait needed for NHS treatment.
Look for obvious signs like severely crooked or crowded teeth, gaps, difficulty chewing, or an incorrect bite where the top and bottom teeth don’t meet properly. Your dentist may also suggest that your child may benefit from orthodontic treatment. Persistent thumb-sucking or breathing through the mouth can also indicate a need for assessment.
The best way to prepare your child for their first appointment is to keep your own attitude positive and encouraging, explaining that the orthodontist is friendly and simply wants to check their teeth. Reassure them that the first appointment is just an examination and X-rays – it’s not for fitting any braces.
